It hard to know what to do for the best at times for a program, so many things to consider. Initially we decided to keep a boy and a girl from Spud and the same from Annie, giving us 2 pairing options.
The chosen two from Spud were Tom and Leigh. But when it came to Annie O's 2 contenders, a spanner was thrown in the works. I wanted 2 boys from Annie and for the combinations to still work. This meant 3 of Annie's 4 kittens need to be retained.
This was a lot of keepers 5 out of 8 kittens, and would in fact only give me 3 pair combinations (That didn't make sense). So I've had a bit of a re-think. While I am still doubling up on lines, these are for different traits that each individual offers, and I can move one pair (when appropriate) without losing anything.
After drawing out a plan of mating options permutations, we've decide to keep 2 girls from Spud and 2 Boys from Annie. This gives us 4 mating options for future pairings, without too many cats, and without compromising lines or quality.
Tom (Totallycoastal A Fathom) is a worthy keeper, but when you take into account the maths, it makes more sense to let him go. It also mean's both Annie O's girls are now available, Totallycoastal Land Ahoy (Holly) and Totallycoastal Anchors Aweigh (Anika). So, the only son of Lil' Spud and Ollie is also now up for adoption. We may consider offering to an established program, if anyone is interested, but this would after discussions of your requirements (and if I felt he could give you what you need).
A little sad that we have to release Holly and Tom, but it means I can happily keep both Declan and Captain, which previously wasn't really justifiable, but now make sense. Leigh (Totallycoastal A League) will be a mate for both boys, as can another of Spud's girls should we decide to, we are ring fencing (Totallycoastal Nautical Mile) Millie for evaluation, she has a very Pixie look about her that I like a lot. I mean the namesake of the breed and not a mythical character. Although maybe Carol named her after her likeness to it, as I consider she has an impish look about her.
Anyway, all of this means 4 cats for 4 matings, the far more sensible option than 5 for 3. I'll have to re-adjust my movers and keepers, and the planned pairings tabs. This decision has of course impacted these pages.
But while A Fathom cant stay, we have worked it out!
