Update - Totallycoastal News of Movers and Shakers!

I've entitled this post Movers and Shakers, simply because it contains a lot to digest about present and future plans that will be a huge impact for us.  I hope for those that regularly follow us, all this information I am about to post will be of much interest.  Topics covered are as the title suggest, Shaking if not, groundbreaking for Totallycoastal. Plus Movers also suggests, cats that will be moving on to make way for their sons and daugthers and kittens we are not keeping.

Another week whizzes by, and the kittens grow and grow.  Not only physically, but also their personalities are developing.  Most are the intrepid adventurers, and are going places they really shouldn't.. A few have no interest in that at all, and prefer home comforts (sleep, eat and just snuggle with their mums).  This weeks photo shoot will be published tomorrow, so please continue to watch this space!

OK, so this week we've been looking at future plans.  Cats we have, kittens we have, lines, traits and personalities and a whole heap more of things (but I'll keep it simple).

Last year we kept 2 boys Big Mac and Van.  We have already had 1 litter sired by Big Mac, giving us a gorgeous litter.  Plus I think you'll agree Big Mac is one stunning Stud Boy (and I am so proud of him), as is Van but for now you haven't had an opportunity to see that.

I can also confirm that we have had 1 litter born from our boy Quintus this year, which was a new line for us.  This was the very first litter sired by Quinn at Totallycoastal, and the results were amazing.  We paired him to a homebred girl, and this has given us some really nice keepers for the future.. that can be paired with our other boys.  So this has given us some very nice options going forward, and we are exceptionally pleased with the outcome.  We'd like to take the opportunity to say Thanks to Fran @ Sylvestrin Pixiebobs for letting us have your boy before his retirement.

In addition to keeping 2 boys from 2010, our main focus was on girls and we kept several. These were Shanty, Sandy, Celia, Annie O, HMS Alyssum and Lily

Shanty was born to Star x Ollie, Sandy to Alessi x Ed, Celia to Alessi x Ed, Annie O to Dakota x Ed, HMS Alyssum to Nebraska x Ed and Lily to Morgana x Ed.  For 2011, we intend to bred some of these girls and if you have been following us, you'll know we have already had litters from Sandy and Annie O.  The remaining girls will be mated between the end of 2011 and the beginning of 2012, so the excitement is far from over here.

Also as you can see, Ed was heavily used in our program last year, so we are keeping things light this year with him and using him only once in 2011.  Which brings me nicely on to my next announcement.  We are expecting 1 litter from the Champ in August!

If that wasn't exciting enough, we have a debut litter on it's way from Van (our second keeper boy of 2010).  He has a very distintive look about him and I really, really need to get a new photo shoot out of him before his babies arrive.  He has grown up quite considerably since he was last in front of a camera and I think you'll be very impressed with his look.  I can tell you that he was mated to Shanty and this litter is due also in August.

Out of the sired litters so far this year, we have come to a decision on who we need to move on... and more importantly who we simply have to keep.  We cannot keep unless we move, otherwise we exponentially expand and expand and that simply cannot be!  We sometime stagger moving, but ultimately kittens and cats have to leave us.  Every leaving is sad, but we also see it as a new beginning of a fantastic life, be it a pampered pet or giving another breeder a fantastic cat we're proud of (and watching their kittens grow).  So we never really say goodbye, with our Owners Updates we gratefully welcome, and of course the keepers here following in mum or dads footsteps.

So, the next annoucement is we are now 100% certain of who is staying here at Totallycoastal out of 2 litters.  Totallycoastal All Hands On Deck (AKA Declan) and Totallycoastal Aye Aye Captain (AKA Captain Hook) both boys in Annie Os litter.  Yet another boy, Totallycoastal A Fathom (AKA Tom) in Spud's Litter.

We are also keeping 1 Girl from Spuds, and 1 Girl from Annie's litter.... these will be Totallycoastal A League (AKA Leigh) and Totallycoastal Land Ahoy (AKA Holly).

Keeping 3 boys, means that as of end of 2011 we have to move on 3 boys to make way for the up and coming ones.  As for the ladies, well we are keeping 2 girls on top of the 2 from Nebraska's March litter.  So this means we have to realisically retire 4 for what we are keeping back this year so far.  We have more litters planned and more already imminent, so more cats will retire by the time we are through 2011, but for now the 3 boys and 4 girls must move.

So yet another announcement to be had, retirees.  Quad Pattie Poly Boy Quintus will be available to a Pet home, as deemed in his contract he must retire after leaving here.  Ollie and Van will be made available as proven Studs for purchase, as they love the work and they are too good to end the line only at Totallycoastal.  I would like to give others opportunities to excel with these boys. As for the girls, 3 of the girls will be looking for Purely Pet Pixiebob homes.  These will be Dakota, Shanty and Sandy.  We are also retiring Nebraska, but will be keeping her here as a companion cat.

If your brain has not reached overload yet, then we still have more to come.

The remaining litter of Sandy's, has only the large longtail girl Totallycoastal Harbour Lights (AKA Lottie) remaining.  She has really flourished this past week, and if this trend continues she would definitely be an asset in our program (for the next 2 years to come).  For now though she WILL remain available, should anyone wish to have her as a pampered pet.  I have other litters to come, and so while she could be an asset, I have to realistically think about what is yet to arrive, and what else I could move to make way.

So after all the information about keeper kittens, retirees being made available and 2 litter annoucements.  What next?  Well we just need to confirm kittens available to you.

Well, we have 2 girls in Spuds litter Totallycoastal A Cable (AKA Mable) and Totallycoastal A Nautical Mile (AKA Millie).  Both are nice Bobtails, and are being made available as Purely Pet Pixiebobs.  We have 1 remaining girl in Annie Os litter, Totallycoastal Anchors Aweigh (AKA Anika), who has a really, really strong face, equal to Holly.  She is also long tail like her sister, and also of Breeding Quality.  Her face is super, and she will make a very good addition to a program (I'd keep both if space permitted, but I have already previously explained that we have to swap, not add).

I think Holly and Anika will grow to excel their mother, Totallycoastal Annie O.  Annie was my best female kitten from 2010, and I can already see her daugther's are stronger.  We are offering something rather special here for a program, by making Anika available.  Of course, she could also equally be offered as a top quality pet, but I would prefer her to continue this line and those features.

If anyone is interested in kittens from my current litters, imminent ones, or in a retiree please contact me.  We offer retirees at an extremely reduced price, and Purely Pets are also very competatively priced.

I think I've created more than enough  excitement for one day, so I will draw this post to a close.  I hope you all stuck with it to the very end!   There will be more exciting announcements as the months pass by, that are already in the pipeline, but I will hold off as that (my followers) is another story!
